The short version
Kilmain Express Plumber started in 2011 with one van, one engineer (Brian) and a list of about sixty houses across Kilmainham and Inchicore — most of them friends-of-friends. The first winter taught two practical lessons: Dublin boilers fail on weekends, and people remember whoever picks up the phone at half past nine on a Sunday evening.
We grew slowly. A second engineer (Declan) joined in 2015 after twenty years at Bord Gáis, a third (Niall) in 2019. We still take roughly the same number of calls per day per van as we did at the start, because the goal is to handle each job properly, not to maximise throughput.
How we like to work
- One phone line. Ring +353-1-524-8821 between 7am and 10pm on a weekday and you'll get a real engineer, not a dispatcher reading off a screen.
- Fixed quotes. We show you the price on the tablet before any case panel comes off. If we hit something unexpected we stop and ring you.
- Stock in the van. Diverter valves, expansion vessels, PCBs for the four most common brands and seven most common models. Around 80% of repairs are start-to-finish in one trip.
- Paperwork by email. RGI conformance, invoice, and 12-month workmanship cert before we drive off.
- Cleanup. Drop sheets, vacuum, no rags left on the kettle.

What we don't do
Honestly listing the boundaries saves everyone a callout.
- Full kitchen or bathroom installs — we do the gas / heating side only, and refer the rest to two trusted partners
- Solar PV — we don't fit panels; we'll happily refer
- Air-source heat pumps — gas and oil heating only (yet)
- Underfloor heating new-build — we service existing systems but don't install new screeds
